Albert Wilson Porter Obituary (1947 - 2019)

Albert Wilson Porter, 72, of Oconee passed away Thursday, April 25, 2019 in his home surrounded by his family. He was born April 11, 1947 in Oconee to the late George & Cecilia (Lewiski) Porter. Albert married the love of his life, Norma Jean Eller on October 11, 1968 in Norma's parents' house in rural Ramsey and she survives in Oconee. Albert lived his entire life in the Oconee area and was a member of the Oak Valley Church. He had worked as a union laborer and was a member of the Local 159 for 36 years. Albert was a hard worker who loved being outside, working in his yard. He was a jokester and loved doing magic tricks. From 2002, Albert fought 5 different cancers but remained strong in his faith. He was always a dedicated husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his wife, Albert is survived by his daughters: Beverly (Terry) Heiman, Ramsey, IL; Barbara (Bryan) Rhodes, Oconee, IL; Joyce (Mario) Carmona, Mattoon, IL; grandchildren: Whitney Craig, Shelby Craig, Laci Craig, Michelle Heiman, Alia Porter, Autumn Rhodes; great grandchildren: Joelynn Craig & Jance Craig; and siblings: Jack Porter, Herrick, IL; Irma (Charles) Shuff, Tower Hill, IL; Annie (Bill) Smith, Ramsey, IL; Richard Porter, Marion, IL. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Craig and siblings: Frances Howse, Murvin Porter, Rose Brown, Thelma Erickson, Paul Porter, Gerald Porter. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 29, 2019 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Roger Eller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Ramsey. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials in Albert's honor may be made to the Montgomery County Cancer Society.
