Catherine "Cathy" Elaine Palmer Varner Obituary (1946 - 2015)

Catherine "Cathy" Elaine Palmer Varner, 68, of Springfield, died Sunday, May 24, 2015 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was born November 27, 1946 in Pana, the daughter of Cecil Kenneth Evalena Waller Palmer, deceased. Cathy graduated from Pana High School in 1964 and attended Lincoln Land College for 2 years. She had lived in Pana before moving to Springfield in 1984. Cathy was a member of the Springfield Foursquare Gospel Church and had worked as a child development aid for District #186 in Springfield for 10 years. She loved reading, working on her computer, cooking and trying different recipes, visiting on the phone, and collecting care bears. Catherine Palmer and Russell Varner, Sr. were married on April 1, 1984 in Pana. She is survived by her husband: Russell Varner, Sr., Springfield, IL and son: Russell Varner, Jr., Springfield, IL. She was also preceded by her sister, Dolores D. Carroll in 2013. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 29, 2015 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Mike Tozer officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana. Friends may call on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until service time in the funeral home.
