Charlotte S. Brunken Obituary (1926 - 2014)

Charlotte S. Brunken, 88, of Tower Hill died Friday, October 3, 2014 in St. Mary's Hospital, Decatur. She was born May 30, 1926 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Alexander Jean Sim Johnston. She was a graduate of Schurz High School in Chicago and Blackburn College in Carlinville. She came to Assumption in 1955 and later lived in Tower Hill. Charlotte was a secretary for Truelock Machinery for several years. She was also involved in farming and the dairy operation with her husband and was an avid reader. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Dollville, where she served as a Sunday school Bible school teacher, as well as a song leader and Tower Hill Women's Club. Charlotte married Fred W. Brunken on January 8, 1950 in Chicago. She is survived by her husband Fred W. Brunken, Tower Hill, IL; sons: Scott Brunken and Bill Brunken, both of Tower Hill, IL; 9 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and by her sister Elizabeth "Betty" Stewart, Kissimmee, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Christy Ann Brunken in 1969; one great granddaughter; and sisters, Alexis "Lex" Hambacher Margaret "Mardee" Johns. Funeral Information Visitation will be Tuesday, October 7, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Dollville at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Neil Kaiser officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul's Cemetery, Dollville.
