Elizabeth O. "Betty" Tilton Obituary (1926 - 2007)

Elizabeth O. "Betty" Tilton, 81, of Tower Hill, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007 in Yorkville, IL. She was born June 21, 1926 in Decatur, IL, the daughter of William Thomas and Geneva Mary Smith Sims. Betty lived most of her life in the Tower Hill area, and she worked as a receptionist at the job center in Shelbyville for many years. She was a member of the Tower Hill Christian Church and Tower Hill Lioness Club, where she was past secretary. Betty married Arthur D. Tilton on August 16, 1946 in Decatur, IL. He died Tuesday, November 20, 2001 and was buried Friday, November 23, 2001. Betty is survived by her children: Tom Tilton wife Sylvia, Fernley, NV; Pat Gaines husband Bill, Union, MO; Kathy Adams husband Doug, Atlanta, IL; Terry Tilton wife Dianne, Trimble, TN; Rick Tilton wife Dewanna, Sylvester, GA; Brenda Bland husband Butch, Pana, IL; Lynn Tilton, Tower Hill, IL; Dortha Grzan husband Jerry, Yorkville, IL; 28 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; brothers sisters: Juanita Ashburn, Mt. Auburn, IL; JoAnn Creamer, Owaneco, IL; Charlene Graven, Findlay, IL; Danny Sims, Edinburg, IL; Jesse Sims, FL; Bill Sims, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Don Tilton; brothers sisters: Rose Waite, Jean Peck, Kate Nolan, Bonnie Behner, Mary McLain, Butch Sims. Funeral Information Visitation will be Friday, November 23, 2007 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, November 23, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Barr officiating. Burial will be in Tower Hill Cemetery.
