Ethelyn Novella Cothern Obituary (1920 - 2018)

Ethelyn Novella Cothern, 97, of Pana, passed away Friday, March 30, 2018 in Heritage Health--Pana. She was born August 23, 1920 in Mt. Vernon, IL, daughter of the late Sidney W. & Frieda (Kerr) DeLong. Ethelyn lived in Pana her entire life and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Assumption Christian Church and enjoyed painting, decorating & crafts. She loved her grandchildren most of all. Ethelyn DeLong & Ray Edward Cothern were married on September 16, 1936 in Pana. He preceded her in death. She is survived by her children: Lois (Ferd) Lebon, Pana, IL; Carol Stieg, Mattoon, IL; Kevin (Candy) Cothern, Pana, IL; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her sons: Kenneth Cothern & Fritz Cothern; granddaughter, Lois Justine Roberts & 2 siblings. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Brock Eckert officiating. Inurnment will be in Mound Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home. Memorials in Ethelyn's honor may be made to the Assumption Christian Church, 115 N. Walnut St., Assumption, IL 62510.
