Evelyn Lucille Flesch Obituary (1924 - 2020)

Evelyn Lucille Flesch, 95, of Oconee passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in Memorial Medical Center, Springfield. She was born September 8, 1924 in rural Oconee, daughter of the late Clarence & Della (Jenkins) Hilton. Evelyn married Norbert Flesch on April 14, 1945 in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oconee. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1977. Evelyn was a graduate of Sylvan Grade School in Oconee & Pana High School. She lived on the family farm for 75 years and worked on that farm. She worked in Illiopolis during WWII, sold Stanley & Avon, was a teacher at a country grade school, and worked as a clerk at Price Auction Company. In the 60's & 70's, she was a well-known proprietor of the Route 51 Market in Ramsey and worked at other grocery stores in the Ramsey & Pana area. Evelyn was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, as well as being a member of various clubs over the years. She enjoyed card parties with friends, crocheting, sewing, cooking, and talking about Nascar & Cardinals baseball. She was an avid bowler and on Saturday nights Evelyn and Norbert would go to Macon Speedway to watch the races. She loved her friends & Evelyn especially loved visits from her grandchildren. She is survived by her children: Dennis (Janet) Flesch & Edward (Donna) Flesch; grandchildren: John (Patricia) Flesch, Jennifer (Anthony) Capozzolli, Michael Flesch, Amanda Flesch, Benjamin (Karrah) Flesch; great grandchildren: Logan Flesch, Luka Flesch, Jasper Capozzolli, Gavin Capozzolli and brother, Bob (Ginger) Hilton. In addition to her parents & husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Thomas Flesch and siblings: Homer Hilton, Bill Hilton & Frieda Frankovich. Memorials in Evelyn's honor may be made to Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oconee and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family. www.mdfh.com
