Harriet L. Jay Obituary (1927 - 2017)

Harriet L. Jay, 89, of Evansville, IN, died Thursday, April 6, 2017 in The Good Samaritan Home in Evansville, IN. She was born August 21, 1927 in Decatur, IL, daughter of the late Ben and Roxie (Poundstone) Trimby. Harriet was raised in and around Decatur, IL, formerly living in Evansville, IN and Pana, IL. She was a member of the VFW Post #1114 in Evansville, IN. Harriet was a seamstress, she worked at Fabs Fashion Fabrics in Evansville, IN. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, bingo, and fishing. Harriet married Darrell Napier on October 18, 1942. She married Everett Johnson on August 28, 1965. She then married George Jay, Sr. on November 30, 1987 in Illinois. She is survived by her children: Trudy Farrell Price (Gary), Evansville, IN and Judy Carrol Blain, Pana, IL; step children: Bud (Karen) Jay, Chatham, IL; Steve Jay, Ogden, UT; Douglas Ellington, Las Vegas, NV; David Ellington, Springfield, IL; grandchildren: Tina, Everett, Farrell, Jessie, Christine, Kelly, Nicolette, Heather, Brittney and Darrell Lee; step grandchildren: Kristi, Lacey, Erica, Gareth, Amy, Kathie, Debbie, Teri, Cristy, Cinda, & Stephanie; 25 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren & several step great grandchildren. She was also preceded by her husbands; sons: Jimmy Darrell Napier & Benny Berton Johnson; step daughter, Beverly Sue Riley; & sister, Toots McNeely. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steven Nance officiating. Graveside services will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. in Boiling Springs Cemetery, Decatur. Visitation will be Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time in the funeral home.
