Joann E. Potts Obituary (1940 - 2015)

Joann E. Potts, 75, of Tower Hill passed away Saturday, October 31, 2015 in her home. She was born February 2, 1940 in Timewell, IL, the daughter of Dennie and Dorthy (Miller) Carpenter. She attended Brown County High School. Joann retired from Pana Community Hospital as head of housekeeping and Pana Country Club. She enjoyed taking care of people both professionally at the Hospital and at the Country Club, as well as her family. Prior to retirement, she was an avid traveler, both in the United States and many trips abroad. Since retirement, she enjoyed working on puzzles, watching Food Network programs, experimenting with recipes and cooking for her family, attending garage sales, her weekly shopping/lunch date with Jack and taking care of her cocker spaniel, Fancy. Joann married Jack Potts on January 31, 1962 in Hillsboro, IL. She is survived by her husband Jack Potts in Tower Hill, IL; children Mickey (Gloria) Walton, Winham. CT; Jackie Lee Potts, Zion, IL; James Donald (Lisa) Potts, Rochester, IL; two grandsons and one granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Donald and Dennis Lozelle and sister Elizabeth Thies. Funeral Information Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 4, 2015 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Derrick Ritchie officiating. Graveside service will be Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Hersman Cemetery, Mt. Sterling, IL.
