Joseph Francis Wolf Obituary (1917 - 2008)

Joseph Francis Wolf, 90, of Oconee, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in his residence. He was born September 11, 1917 in Ramsey, to Frank and Mary Pollman Wolf. Joe served in WWII in the European Theater under General Patton from 1941 to 1945, and was awarded the Bronze Star. After his return to the states, Joe and Juanita worked to reunite the members of his HQ HQ Company, and organized numerous reunions for the soldiers and their families. He was a member of the VFW and a lifetime member of the Oconee American Legion. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a Burrus Seed Corn dealer for many years. Joe was also an active member of the Sacred Heart Church, Oconee, and numerous community organizations. Joe served as mayor of Oconee for 16 years and was a member of the township board for 30+ years. He helped found the Rural Fire Protection Association, serving as its' president for many years. He and Juanita also helped establish the School of Light in Taylorville. Joe married Juanita Kuhn in 1946, and settled in Oconee, where he was a farmer. Joe and Juanita raised 7 children: Daisy Cravens, Dennis Wolf wife Rose, Rita Lynch husband Bob, Roger Wolf wife Mary, Lila Wade husband Bill, Zetta Wolf. They were blessed with 13 grandchildren and would soon have 15 great grandchildren. Joe was preceded in death by his wife Juanita on March 4, 2008; his parents; brother, Harold; sister, Pauline; son, Lynn; son-in-law, Frosty; grandson, Chad. Funeral Information Rosary will be Sunday, March 16, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. followed by visitation until 8:00 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be Monday, March 17, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Oconee with Rev. Don J. Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oconee with graveside military rites by Roy Ireland American Legion Post #317, Oconee.
