Karrie Kay Rhodes-Reed Obituary (1956 - 2020)

Karrie Kay Rhodes-Reed, 63 of Shumway, formerly of Pana passed away Friday, April 17, 2020 at Prairie Rose Health Care, Pana. She was born November 4, 1956 in Pana to the late Larry E. & Karen L. (Johnson) Rhodes. She married Dave Reed and he survives her after 14 years of marriage. Karrie worked as a candy striper, nurse's aide, LPN and went on to become an RN which was her true calling in life as she cared for her patients, their families and friends until her health made her stop. Her faith was strong and she had a loving church family at Christ Tabernacle Church, Herrick. Karrie loved animals, watching and feeding birds, flowers and sitting by her pond. The most important thing in her life was her family. Along with her husband, Karrie is survived by her boys: Robert (Jennifer) Snyder, Jr., Oregon, Coady and Nathaniel Cothern, Pana; step-daughters: Kristen (Tony) Runde, Effingham, Michelle Reed, Kentucky; 13 grandchildren: 3 great-grandchildren; 4 step-grandchildren; sisters: Sharrie Eilers, Lori Cloe, and Judy Whitlatch; several nieces & nephews and many friends she chose as family. She was also preceded by her brother Randy R. Rhodes and special grandma Renie. Per Karrie's wishes cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service for Karrie will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020 at 5:00 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until service time in the funeral home. Memorial's in Karrie's honor may be made to Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, P.O. Box 533, Pana, IL 62557 and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
