Larry Lee Frailey Obituary (1937 - 2020)

Larry Lee Frailey, 83, of Pana passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 in Carle Hospital, Urbana. He was born April 30, 1937 in Pana to the late Russel C. & Vida "Dude" (Halbrook) Frailey. Larry married Hazel M. Phipps on May 18, 1955. They later divorced. He married Carolyn M. Mayo on October 20, 1973 and she preceded him May 23, 2016. Larry was a graduate of Pana High School, Class of 1955. He ran Frailey's Radiator in Pana for many years. He also worked at the Pana Refinery, Illinois Valley Paving, welded on the pipeline and farmed with his father. He was very proud to be a 59-year member of Pana Masonic Lodge and Clover Leaf Lodge in Herrick. He served as past Master of both lodges. Larry was an avid outdoorsman and woodsman. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping, mushroom hunting and growing some of the best sweet corn around. He was well known as an excellent marksman and shot trap all over the state. He was a state trap shoot champion in his younger years. He had many friends of all ages and enjoyed living his life with them and his family. He was a Renaissance man in that he knew a lot about a lot. Larry is survived by his children: Bonnie (Steve) Mizeur, Pana, IL; Terry (Neil) Frailey-Wood, Pana, IL; Carol (Eric) Satterlee, Pana, IL; Larry (Dana) Frailey, Pana, IL; Donna (Bill) Weiser, Taylorville, IL; Paula Sims, Pana, IL; Debra (Jim) McCoy, Taylorville, IL; Steven (Renee) Mashburn, Pana, IL; grandchildren: Angie (Chris) Frailey-Dressen, Amber (Grover) Green, Christina Horsthemke, Erica (Jason) Matthews, Ethan Frailey, all of Pana; Jason (Erin) Domonousky, Nathan (Penney) Domonousky, both of Taylorville; Shelly (Vince) Ashley of Pana; Brian (Heather) McCoy of Taylorville; David (Kate) McCoy of Libertyville, IL; Lore Ballew (Adam Wilson) of Pana; Jared (Laura) Mashburn of Indianapolis, IN; 30 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; and siblings: Annabelle (Bill) Umberger, Iowa, LA & Kay (Buck) Miller, Pana, IL. In addition to his parents & wife, he was preceded in death by his beloved dog Lilly on November 12, 2020. Funeral services for Larry will be held Friday, December 18, 2020 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Dave Altman officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home. Masonic rites will be held at a later date. Per family's request, masks will be required and social distancing will be enforced. Memorials in Larry's honor may be made to the America Cancer Society and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
