Morris M. Witt Obituary (1940 - 2013)

Morris M. Witt, 72, of Pana, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 in Taylorville Memorial Hospital. He was born September 4, 1940 in Tower Hill, IL, the son of Walter R. Mary Clutter Witt. Morris lived his entire life in Pana and retired from CAT in 1996 after 30 years. He enjoyed horses, antique tractors, farming, and most of all, spending time with his family. He also had a special interest in horseracing and had a special horse named Dakota Jake, setting several records, including the Pana Fair record. He was also a member of the Pana Moose Lodge #1015 and Old Tyme Collector's Club. He married Mildred Beasley and they later divorced. He married Alice M. Henderson in 1972 and she preceded him on November 25, 1989. Morris is survived by his son: Darren Witt wife Cindy, Pana, IL; daughter: Melody Turner husband Jim, Iuka, IL; step sons: Michael Kaiser, Pana, IL; Kenny Kaiser, Pana, IL; 5 grandchildren: James Prochaska wife Lauren, Morgan Kohrmann, Byron Witt, Clyde Witt, Lowell Witt; 2 great grandchildren: Lane Riley; sister: Marcella Hunter, Pana, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; step son: David Kaiser; brothers: Virgil "Pete" Witt, Gale Witt, Paul Witt, Dale Witt. Funeral Information Funeral services will be Friday, April 19, 2013 in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Ronald Brown officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Pana. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
