Robert M. (Bob) Beyers Obituary (1926 - 2006)

Robert M. (Bob) Beyers, 80, of Pana, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2006 ay 5:10 p.m. in Heritage Manor, Pana. He was born February 6, 1926 in Pana, Illinois, the son of Herman and Sara Shanks Beyers. Bob had lived his entire life in Pana, except while serving in the U.S. Army. He served for two years in the army during WWII; seeing combat in the Battle of the Bulge. Bob made his living as a carpenter and roofer, and he retired from Pana Unit School District in 1991, after 23 years as the district carpenter. Bob loved riding his motorcycle, and was also a member of the St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana. He married Mary E. Austin on December 9, 1950 in Pana Parish Hall. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Beyers, Pana, IL; son, Mark R. Beyers and wife Pam, Pana, IL; daughters: Janice Beyers, Williamsville, IL and Carol Beyers, Springfield, IL; 5 grandchildren: Jessica, Ross, and Ryan Beyers; Robie and Katie Karhliker; and brother, Herman Pete Beyers and wife Helen, Pana, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Harold (Dutch) Beyers and Henry (Hank) Beyers; and sisters: Doris Bauer and Dorothy Secrest. Funeral Information Visitation will be held Friday, July 21, 2006 from 5-8pm at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home with Rosary at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 22, 2006 ay 10:00am in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Pana, with Rev. Don J. Roberts officiating. Burial will be in Rosemond Grove Cemetery, Rosamond, Illinois.
