Rosemary (Keltner) Bredehoft Obituary (1919 - 2012)

Rosemary (Keltner) Bredehoft, 92, of Pana, died Monday, May 28, 2012 in Heritage Health--Pana. Mrs. Bredehoft was born in Creal Springs, IL, on October 18, 1919, the daughter of John Clyde and Mary (Randolph) Keltner. In 1924 the family moved to Marion, IL. Rosemary graduated in 1937 from Marion High School and began employment at the United Gas and Electric Company and then the Bank of Marion. On April 25, 1948, she married Elmer Henry Bredehoft. One child was born, John William Bredehoft, of Columbia, MO. Mr. Bredehoft died December 3, 1993 in Pana. While a resident of Marion, Mrs. Bredehoft was a member of the Junior Women's Club, Charter Member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and a Junior Gray Lady Volunteer at the Veterans Administration Hospital. As a member of the Disciples of Christ Christian Church of Marion, she served as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member and Junior Deaconess. In 1952, Mr. Bredehoft was transferred by CIPS (now Ameren) from Marion to Pana, IL. Mrs. Bredehoft immediately adopted Pana as her home and became an active member of the Lincoln School PTA, Music Boosters, Honorary Member of the Tuesday Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Pana Community Hospital Auxiliary, Hospital Volunteer and a member of the Humanitarian Council. She was also very active as a Friend of the Library, and a (*50 year plus) member of the Pana Presbyterian Church, now the Pana United in Faith Church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir and Women's Fellowship Member and Church Trustee, Elder, and Deacon. In addition, Mrs. Bredehoft truly adopted Pana as her home and was a caring and generous contributor to all the Pana fundraisers and needs, especially for her church, the Pana Community Hospital, Pana Library, Pana Park, and numerous other needy and worthwhile endeavors undertaken for the betterment and improvement of Pana. In 2005 she was honored by Pana and graciously served as the Grand Marshall of the Labor Day Parade. Since the late 1920's Mrs. Bredehoft has been a loyal St. Louis Cardinal fan. In addition to her son, John William Bredehoft, she is survived by one sister-in-law, Helen Bredehoft, Sun City, FL, nephews, great nephews, great-great nieces and nephew, great-great-great niece and nephews and cousins. Funeral Information Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 31, 2012 at the United in Faith Church, Pana, IL with Rev. Marilyn Rauch of the Pana United in Faith Church officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the church. A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 1, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Marion, IL.
