Stephen P. Schmitz Obituary (2013)

Stephen P. Schmitz, 65, of Wheeling, IL, formerly of Pana, died Sunday, October 13 as a result of a motorcycle accident. He is preceded in death by his sister, Christine Schmitz. Steve is survived by his sons David Schmitz (mother-Bobbi McCaffrey), Matthew Schmitz (mother-Nancy Munn Schmitz); his parents Clarence and Irene Schmitz; his sisters Paulette (Bud) Witsman and Valerie (Steve) Green; and his brother Tom Schmitz (J.R. Blackburn); 6 nieces, 2 nephews, 1 great-niece and 4 great nephews. He enjoyed wood working, gardening, cooking, playing guitar, riding motorcycles with his friends, and spending time with his family. His positive outlook and jovial personality will be greatly missed. Funeral Information Memorial mass will be held Saturday, November 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oconee with Rev. Rodney A. Schwartz officiating. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Oconee. Friends may call on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home.
